Welcome to Vintage Motors of Lyons

Front of the shop in Lyons

We sell, consign, purchase, and locate cars of interest for folks that appreciate them. We  always carry an eclectic selection of classics. Whether you are wanting that perfect  Sunday driver, a project car, or a higher end investment, we probably have a car that you will enjoy!

I have been passionate about cars since I was a kid in the '50's and '60's and bought my first car while in high school, which was a then 10 year old 1958 MGA. Since then I have enjoyed and nurtured many classics, both foreign and domestic. I decided to follow and share my passion for cars by creating a welcoming marketplace to not only sell cars, but open a place for everyone to come in and check out and talk cars, look at car books, magazines, posters, artwork, etc..

Our shop was originally built as a Texaco gas station in the 1940's and is conveniently located at the junction of the two highways leading to the Rocky Mountains just north west of Boulder. You won't miss us at the west end of Main Street.  Lyons is a fun, small town offering nationally known live music festivals and brewpub; shops and great fly fishing, kayaking, tubing, hiking, and mountain biking.  The South St. Vrain Canyon is among many great driving roads in the area.

The best part of this business has been all of the great people we meet. Thanks for visiting our site and I hope to meet you whenever you are in the area.

1978 Datsun 280Z – Sold

We’re very pleased to present for purchase this beautiful “time capsule” Datsun 280Z . This is 280Z # HLS30-432515, built in October 1977.

It is a Five Speed coupe with just 97,356 original miles and is sold with a clear, Colorado actual mileage title. The car is equipped with air conditioning.

The car is finished in white (its original color; with one high quality re-paint in 1988) complimented by its original brown interior.

This Z has been very well maintained and cared for by its same local owner for the past 34 years. It is a three owner car from new and was sold new in Dallas, TX.

Perhaps the best quality of this Z is that it is very rust free. Not only was the car kept clean and garaged when not being driven but it received a Ziebart rust preventative treatment early in life and as a result does not suffer from the rust problems found in many other Z cars.

These 280Z cars (not to be confused with the later ZX cars) are very close to the original 240Zs but with a better running, more maintenance free engine thanks to fuel injection. Many consider the ’77 & ’78 280Zs to be the best of the Z cars.

Original jack, tool kit, spare wheel/tire, owners and workshop manuals.

The last of the real Z cars and an appreciating investment. In very good condition throughout, ready to enjoy!  JUST SOLD – THANK YOU

1997 Land Rover NAS Defender 90 – Sold

The last and best year for the North American Spec. Defender 90 and one of just 1,300 hard top wagons produced.  These are impressive, true “do-it-all” vehicles which many consider to be the last of the “real” Land Rovers with its short wheelbase, solid axles, aluminum body, English “charm” and looks.

This LR is equipped with a 4.0l EFI (gas) V8 engine, full time 4WD, automatic transmission and air conditioning. It seats and buckles six.

It was sold new in Denver, has just 88,320 original miles and is sold with a clear Colorado, actual mileage, title.

It is in very good condition and has been with its prior local owner for the past 6 years (service records with vehicle). Finished in Alpine White with Slate Gray interior.

Several nice options include: an ARB Front Bumper with Warn winch (never used); 2 inch lift kit; air lockers (with dash mounted switches) for both front and rear differentials, console mounted Alpine CD stereo (great sound! – orig. LR AM-FM with vehicle as well), sliding rear windows, new stainless steel rear muffler, factory spare wheel/tire mount on rear door and 4 additional LR wheels mounted with studded snow tires.

1967 Porsche 912 – Sold

1967 Porsche 912 Five Speed Coupe For Sale. This is Porsche # 462950; built June 14, 1967. It is finished in its original color combination of Light Ivory  (#6604) with Black Leatherette Interior.  As verified by the COA from Porsche included with the car, it is a matching numbers car with its original engine and transmission.

This 912 is very well sorted and tuned. It is an absolute pleasure to drive! One may experience how well balanced these cars are and how much fun they are when driven at speed; comfortably and safely.

Having owned an early 912 myself for many years, I can say that it is quite satisfying and fun to drive these cars near their limits on daily roads. The proportions and lines of these early short wheel base cars are very pure and look and feel just right too.

I believe that Porsche enthusiast Jerry Seinfeld summed up the 912 nicely in just five words: “Lighter, more agile, cooler image”.

 JUST SOLD – THANK YOU
